Young Folks Go on Vacation with the Bishop of Alexandria Louisiana

A quick Louisiana Catholic related post

I noticed that the Catholic paper for the Diocese of Alexandria , The Church Today, has their new edition online. GO here to download the The Church Today, July 21, 2008 edition. Sadly I do not know yet how download photos from PDF convert them and get them on my blog.

Being a mid summer edition of a Catholic Paper as expected the local reporting and local articles is a little thinner than usual. However there is much there including a lot of photos and what is going on around the Diocese. There are pictures for instance of the various confirmation , first communion and 2008 graduation classes. Also there are pics of those that went to Steubenville South!!

However the front page has a big Headline VACATION WITH THE BISHOP. It appears that this is a yearly event where the Bishop takes teens, seminarians, chaperones and young adults with him on Vacation. There are several photos of this and one of the captions explains

A fun group of 53 teens, seminarians, chaperones and young adults went on Vacation with Bishop
Ronald Herzog July 7-11 to Atlanta, Georgia. The group visited Six Flags, Hard Rock cafe, Coca Cola factory, CNN, Atlanta Aquarium, Stone Mountain laser show, Atlanta Braves
Stadium, the Water Park, and ESPN Zone. Participants were from three churches -- St. Mary’s Assumption in Cottonport, Immaculate Conception in Natchtiches, and OLPS in Alexandria
.

Sadly it appears from the photo they were subjected to a Atlanta Braves Game no doubt as a spiritual exercise to offer up their suffering for the souls in purgatory.

Anyway some interesting stuff in there including a big event that the Knight os Columbus will be doing. If you are from a Neighboring Diocese (which are most of them in Louisiana) check out the paper to see if there is a event you would like to attend.
