Obama Lied to A Hispanic and Latino Group Today

I know Immigration Reform is a controversial subject. People support it and people of good faith oppose it. This post is not intended to re open that debate. This post is show again the dishonesty of Obama

From Obama's comments today to LULAC this afternoon

Now, I know Senator McCain used to buck his party on immigration by fighting for comprehensive reform, and I admired him for it. But when he was running for his party’s nomination, he abandoned his courageous stance, and said that he wouldn’t even support his own legislation if it came up for a vote. Well, for eight long years, we’ve had a President who made all kinds of promises to Latinos on the campaign trail, but failed to live up to them in the White House, and we can’t afford that anymore.

We need a President who isn’t going to walk away from something as important as comprehensive reform when it becomes politically unpopular. That’s the commitment I’m making to you. I marched with you in the streets of Chicago to meet our immigration challenge. I fought with you in the Senate for comprehensive immigration reform. And I will make it a top priority in my first year as President – not only because we have an obligation to secure our borders and get control of who comes in and out of our country. And not only because we have to crack down on employers who are abusing undocumented immigrants instead of hiring citizens. But because we have to finally bring undocumented immigrants out of the shadows.

Yes, they broke the law. And they should have to pay a fine, and learn English, and go to the back of the line. That’s how we’ll put them on a pathway to citizenship. That’s how we’ll finally fix our broken immigration system and avoid creating a servant class in our midst. It’s time to reconcile our values and principles as a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws. That’s what this election is all about.

Obama platitudes are laughable and it is a sorry state of affairs if he gets away with it. If I was McCain I would have unleashed with this little fact. Obama killed Immigration Reform through a Poison pill to appease UNIONS. Every one knows it. GO here for the details!!! He cannot run away from it How can he lie with such a straight face?

I keep bringing this point up on certain Catholic Blogs that supposely share my concern for a sane Immigation policy that protects our national interest and is informed by our Catholic Faith. However it is just ignored by the Catholics that are too busy promoting Obama. I guess all this legislative hocus pocus is too confusing to some and they rather ignore it.

You know it was just the major Catholic Social Justice Issue in the United States for the decade. I guess some feel dirty that the major leaders on this issue were Republicans with the names of Bush, Mccain , and Brownback and perhaps they actually found common ground.

Lets talk about Bush and Torture( note Bush is not running) and move on from this episode when they had to deal with "these " people I guess is their view . Eye opening this has been.

What is more sad is that many Catholics and Catholic Advocacy groups that looked to McCain and his leadership will let Obama get away with it.

A warning though. Other Politicians observe these things and if you are not there to back up the people that supported you then other Politicians will note that for the future.

We Conservative Republican Pro-Life Catholics are told we must jump through hoops when Obama even gives us a hint of listening to our concerns. It appears listening not acting on them is enough. We are told and lectured constantly that the PRO-LIFE issue should not be a single party issue. That we have a obligation to support Dem Pro-lifers and many of us do. However when it comes to issue likes this it appears there is a double standard.

Mood- Disgusted- I want to spit nails.

Update I got a Email asking why I was angry. I invested a lot in this issue and it was not easy or fun. What Obama did felt like the Ultimate Betrayal for many of us that just wanted to get this over to the House and let the debate and discussion continue. Once he got off the ship it was over.
