Well we lost but it is not the of the world. I will have more thought son this later. McCain and Plain ran the best race they could in the circumstances. Lots of people saying what they did wrog today but I disagree with a lot of it.
Bryon York had a great piece on this today BYRON YORK: Could anything have prevented this defeat? “What Sank McCain. It is a great piece and for those GOPER's that want to start lambasting our ticket I would recommend it. I love this part:
A few weeks before the election, a top McCain aide gave me the campaign’s inside view of the situation. "You could think of this as trying to summit a mountain," he said. "Both campaigns have to summit the mountain. In most elections, one campaign has some kind of advantage over the other — maybe they get a ten-minute or a half-hour head start — but both sides have to climb the same face of the mountain. In this election, we’re not climbing the same face of the mountain. They’re climbing the side of the mountain with boardwalks and latte stands and playgrounds for the kids, and we’re climbing the side of the mountain with axes and ice picks and one slip and you’re dead."
How true. Last night I watched both Speeches. Obama gave a great speech but I was not overwhelmed. It was good and proper but in the end it sounded alot like his stump speeches. We shall see.
But it occur ed to me that if the roles were reversed and if McCain had spent one billion dollars to get elected and won the media would be howling a tad last night. We were literally outspent in a manner never see and I am amazed we came close. In fact if you are look at the electoral map many of these close races were one or 3 percent. A extra Hundred Million and needless a extra few Hundred Million that Obama had would have come in handy and made a difference.
The fact is the GOP and those that supported McCain/ Palin should hold our heads high. IF and it is a if the Credit markets had not collapsed and Wall street taken a tumble we very well might have had President Elect McCain today. But as Bryon York pointed out and even Karl Rove perhaps not.
I will be talking about different aspects of this later.
Anyway I am no longer having to make thousands of calls for Mccain so blogging and my usual posts should be coming back
Cheers
