Obama and Fishing Becomes Hot In Louisiana Senate Race

I have not commented much on the uproar that is occurring because of a recent ESPN report. See the details and links here at When Fishing Poles Are Outlawed, Only Outlaws Will Have Fishing Poles. (UPDATED) VIA Red Stick Rant. I really don't know if there is much to be concerned about here. Perhaps there is.

However this has exploded in Louisiana (The Sportsman's Paradise) and especially in South Louisiana where no doubt it is a big issue.!!

Now Senator David Vitter responded with force here.

His Democrat opponent Congressman Charlie Melancon (who can't really afford another Obama related problem) responds too with a slightly less forceful letter but still wants to know what is going on.

Now again I have not formed an opinion if this new Federal thing of a jig is good or bad. However it is tad troublesome that it appears if not for ESPN both Vitter and Melancon seemed quite unaware that some major things were going on that would affect Louisiana in a huge way and now are just catching wind of it. Perhaps I am wrong

Despite Vitter's tone he says ", the Interim Framework gives the impression that the administration is seeking to implement fundamental changes to both the regulatory structure and statutory authorities that form the basis for nearly every aspect of oceans management ..."

Charlie Melancon wants a meeting " with a key Administration official to discuss possible changes to federal fishing regulations" and wants to "sit down and talk about a fishing policy that works for Louisiana.”

In other words it appears that both men here were caught flatfooted and are not sure what the heck is going on here. Hopefully we shall have clarity soon
