Ok I don't much about Kansas accept their mascot is a funny looking bird that perhaps should be on a cereal box of Fruit Loops. We learn that a Jayhawk is:
Kansas University is home of the Jayhawk, a mythical bird with a fascinating history.
Its origin is rooted in the historic struggles of Kansas settlers. The term "Jayhawk" was probably coined about 1848. Accounts of its use appeared from Illinois to Texas. The name combines two birds: the blue jay, a noisy, quarrelsome thing known to rob other nests; and the sparrow hawk, a stealthy hunter. The message here: Don't turn your back on this bird.
So basically when picking mythical birds they did not pick the majestic Phoenix but some colorful buzzard like thing :) On a serious American history note there is some cool history behind the mascot at the link though.
Oh I know one thing. Their team is pretty good and this will be the biggest test yet for the Tigers before we go into SEC play.. It is a three game series starting tonight at 7 p.m.
As always not having Ranaudo back is going to be a pain in the butt especially for this series. A few quick links
Here is the Jayhawks Baseball site.
The Papers have the following articles (Thankfully they are giving us real news on the actual team we face which has been lacking the past few weeks)

Why is there no Gannett piece? Could not have Glen Guilbeau up in Nashville for the BB game done a little something. Even faked it. Freaking Gannett newspapers blow!!! Can't they hire a journalism student to do this stuff when Glen is out of town?
Carl Dubois as usual will be the place to go tonight. He will have live game post no doubt which are good. He has already up Tigers, Jayhawks meet tonight at the Box
More Later Geaux Tigers!!

The Scarecrow sighed. "Of course I cannot understand it," he said. "If your heads were stuffed with straw like mine, you would probably all live in the beautiful places, and then Kansas would have no people at all. It is fortunate for Kansas that you have brains." - L. Frank Baum, The Wizard of Oz
