How Can this Coach Be Charged With Obstructing Justice

Maybe I am missing something. According to the TV report I just heard the obstruction has to deal with him telling his son not to talk to the police.

What is wrong with that legally? So a Lawyer can tell a client not to talk to the police but a dad can't tell his son not too?

There must be more to the story I am not aware of.
