A Good Criticism of Catholic Journalist John Allen

The Adventist blog I think makes a good criticism of the United States leading Catholic Journalist at The Late, Great, John Allen

Now let me say as I have on numerous occasions that I think Allen's work is important and very good. So some constructive criticism is also merited to the best of them.

The issue is the use of the term "Taliban Catholic" and Allen at the end of the article goes into the controversy his words have called. Now he makes the point he knows he is playing with fire and does this in order "invite an examination of conscience across the board, myself very much included, not to slur one side or the other in Catholic debates."

Well ok!! However words matter. Secular journalist everyday use the term FUNDAMENTALIST way way too much in describing various people of faith.. It is incorrect and has now caused much more harm than good on many levels. I hope that Allen will look at the damage done in the secular MSM religious reporting world and consider a different avenue for this examination of conscience he is inviting us all on.
