Bishop of Baton Rouge Orders Prayers and Fasting For LSU's Anthony Ranaudo (Links)

Can You Spare a Novena?

Breaking From Baton Rouge!!!!

The Bishop of Baton Rouge , Robert William Muench, has sent out an urgent request for prayers and fasting in his Diocese and STATEWIDE regarding the healing of LSU's Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo arm. The LSU star pitcher has been out as his arms heals as a precaution

This urgent plea came after LSU lost the series to Kansas yesterday and amid concerns from LSU fans that these woes were effecting their Lent. Local reports showed concerns about lines at confession this morning where taking the "lords name In vain " ( THE BIG GD) were common sins .

All Catholics are urged to not only to fast and do penance on Friday but Wednesday as well. Further the Bishop has made clear fasting does not mean some expensive filling fish dinner at Mike Andersons.

If these woes continue the Baton Rouge Bishop commented it might be a sign that GOD wants real radical sacrifice. Such as Louisiana Catholics not drinking beer between 3 and 5 pm on Tuesday.

It is apparent as the Advocate reports on the loss that well our pitching is not quite there yet and having Anthony on the bench is not helping. See Series exposes pitching and Tigers drop series A big concern as we go into SEC play.

Added to this drama is an apparent unheard schism as to Bishop solidarity in Louisiana. The Archbishop of New Orleans, Archbishop Gregory Michael Aymond, (newly arrived as being the Bishop of Austin where you know who is located) seemed conflicted and said he would take it under advisement. Though the smart money is that Aymond being a native New Orleans guy will advise a Novena.

Baton Rouge was most shocked at the reaction of the Bishop of the neighboring Diocese of Houma Thibodaux the most Most Rev. Sam G. Jacobs.

According to the reporter with the Diocesan newspaper Bishop Jacobs went "are you @#@@@@ kidding me."

"Nicholls is playing LSU this Wednesday we are going for the TWO PEAT". Ecumenical relations were strained as Jacobs commenting on the amount of Protestant players on the LSU team alluded he rather pray for the Baptist Louisiana College Baseball team.

The Bishop of Lafayette ,Bishop Jarrell, is on board though he had to act swiftly by threatening some rabid ULL Catholics that Adoration prayer services before the Blessed Sacrament that Ranaudo get the swine flu was counterproductive to his call for "prayer".

The Bishop of Lake Charles , Glen John Provost, is unavailable for comment.

It appears this Louisiana Hierarchy deadlock appears will break in LSU's favor by Bishop Duca of the Diocese of Shreveport.

Duca , who is from Dallas and was a campus minister at SMU has the least connections to the State and thus in theory a disinterested party. However this has been thrown in dispute as DUCA was heard saying "wait Ranaudo is Italian well that clinches it!!"

It is reported that Duca will appear on ESPN 97.7 and recite the Rosary on Fox and Company for the health of LSU's star pitcher. Rumor has it he has demanded that nationally known sports commentator and Catholic Tim Brando, also a Shreveport native, take time from his Brittany Spears updates and help spread the word.
