Why People China Don't Get Governor Sarah Palin

I thought is both intriguing and so sad. How can people be conditioned not to see the value of every human life!! I can't though bash China. Can we not see where we are going as nation in some of these attitudes?

Most of my Chinese friends as is the case with many Americans, know very little about Governor Sarah Palin, John Mcain’s choice for running mate in the 2008 Presidential Election. When they do learn more about her, there is one aspect of her life that will undoubtedly catch the attention of many people here. Earlier this year, Governor Palin gave birth to a baby boy despite the fact that doctors told her that he would have Down syndrome. Making the same choice in China is nearly unheard of. If a Chinese mother finds out that her unborn baby is afflicted with a deformity or other abnormality, it is standard procedure to have the baby aborted.

Let me say speaking to Catholics here that mostly read my blog. Do you see with Palin that her leadership means something profound and perhaps life changing? Where in heavens name are the Catholic Social Justice regular voices?

A very progressive Catholic blogger over at Vox Nova said:

Raising a Child with Down’s Syndrome…
…is commendable, and indeed a sign of virtue. But that is not why we vote for people. We vote for people based on their stated policies, and the likelihood that their policies will be implemented. On this basis, who has the better policies to facilitate a family raising a child with special needs? Clearly, the answer is Barack Obama, through his support for: universal health care, programs for pre- and post-natal care, programs emphasizing parenting skills, income support to families, extending the Family and Medical Leave act (that would, among other things, allow leave to be taken for purposes of caring for family members for six months or more), flexible work arrangements, expansion of paid sick days, expansion of the child and dependent care tax credit, expansion of the earned income tax credit, a tax cut for working families, and an increase in the minimum wage. John McCain? Well, we think you are doing a great thing, keep it up, but you are on your own

Good Grief. Why so nopt people look at modern day Saints like Mother Teresa that lived among the most horrible suffering in India. She said:
"But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love, and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts. Jesus gave even his life to love us. So the mother who is thinking of abortion, should be helped to love - that is, to give until it hurts her plans, or her free time, to respect the life of her child. The father of that child, whoever he is, must also give until it hurts. By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems. And by abortion, the father is told that he does not have to take any responsibility at all for the child he has brought into the world. That father is likely to put other women into the same trouble. So abortion just leads to more abortion. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. "

You will not hear this of course. Obama will give more health care which means more prenatal testing while still validating a culture of death that will allow people to get rid of the so called "imperfect".

It boggles my mind that some Catholics can not see the problem here.
