Appears Baton Rouge got hammered in a few places

No doubt it still early and our fragile coast took a huge battering. I am very concerned about the lower parishes. But Louisiana might have doged a bullet. THANK YOU OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR

Looking at various Louisiana boards people are not thrilled with some apsects of Media coverage. Especially those that want to know what is happening outside New Orleans

Nagin: City expects to allow people to return within 24-36 hours

Could be doable. Of course New Orlean sis not out of the woods yet. Two things in are tension here. Having resident s return when it is safe and also the fact that residents are more LIABLE not to evac in the future if they think they can't get back home when the danger is passed.

Good News for Louisiana and especially the central and northern parts. Listening to Gov Jindal's press conference it appears this storm will track more south. Which is bad news I suppose for Lake Charlees as it will be a tropical storm. However it appears there will be no massive power outages up here which I am sure the people who evacued up here appreciate.. It will also free up Power Comapnies to send more of their crews down south if this track is correct . Also that means this storm will not "hang around" All that rain in North Louisiana has to go South increasing a longer term flodding problem fo the south

They have a Weather Channel guy stationed outside the St Francis Catholic Church complex in Houma( I think it is the co Cathedral for the Diocese). Major damage to the roofs of buildings but none to the Cathedral

12:14 pm

For those in the very populated neighbor of Orleans Parish. That is big Jefferson. Good news . Sheriff Normand: Levees seem to be in good shape

11:27 am

Gov of Mississippi is doing news conference. It is pretty funny to watch Gov Barbour press conference and the Gov Jindals. Fncus on the Sign Language guy. Barbour is a sign language guys dream because he talks so SLOOOW . I am sure that JIndal is givng his sign language guy fits as Jindal is going a million miles a minute trying to keep up

IT'S GERALDO
He is on the levee!!!!

11:06 am-
If CNN puts up that reporter again that keeps saying how the lower ninth is under water and the levee has been "breached" I think I will scream. He is been back in the French quarter for a hour and reporting what no else says is true

10:50 am-
A somewhat mixed report but sounds good from the Corp in Nola.

10:20 am-
Barges loose in Canal? Good grief not again

10:18 am-
Well the eye crossed into Louisiana 50 minutes ago. CNN reporting water spurting out from underneath Levees in the 9th ward. That is far more serious if true than just the slight overtopping I am seeing
