Birth Defects , Special Needs Children and the Republican Convention

I thought this was a very astute observation:
'Her concern for those less blessed than we.'
McCain, moments ago:
Cindy said a lot of nice things about me tonight. But, in truth, she's more my inspiration than I am hers. Her concern for those less blessed than we are — victims of land mines, children born in poverty and with birth defects — shows the measure of her humanity. I know she will make a great First Lady.
I can't remember a convention with so many references to birth defects, and children brought into this world outside the common, too-limited definition of perfect. For a nominee who wasn't well known as a pro-lifer's ideal, this has been a robust, proud three days.
