Wall-E the Movie- Liberal Claptrap or Aristotelian, Crunchy Con Conservatism

Rod is back posting full time at Crunchy Con. The animated movie Wall-E has generated some discussion on the conservative political blogs. Go see Rod's review for another view at "Wall-E": Aristotelian, crunchy con. Be sure to check out the comment section that is really good.

I am curious what you think. I loved the movie and the more I read about it the more I love it.

Personally I think the uber-conservatives are reading too much of blanket "liberalism" into it. I think the reaction is knee-jerk more than well thought out. How one can miss the parallels to Genesis and the obvious love, "get back to nature", life and sacrifice as the dominant themes is beyond me. How one can confuse them as being against conservatism is even more mind boggling.

It just points out that the ideas of men are prone to the flexes of the day. That is why I like being Catholic so much. "The Catholic Church is the only thing which saves a man from the degrading slavery of being a child of his age." -- G.K. Chesterton -- The type of conservative that aims first to protect the corporation and the right to burn trash and pander to the flesh IMHO is missing what conservatism is about. They are focused on the trappings, not the values.

I think you are right.

I have not seen the movies yet but I thought there was knee jerk reaction too that was not thinking.

Then it got repeated on the blogs. I am anxious to see it
