Louisiana Catholic Blog Update - Fourth of July Edition 2008

Only in New Orleans!! This is an intriguing shot of of course St Louis Cathedral. That indeed is the River and the Levee where the boat is at.

Well we are doing our Fourth of July edition of the Louisiana Catholic Blog update. We might not have the next one till Monday. Blog traffic regardless of what a blog hits on seems to plummet over the 4th and especially when there is a three day weekend. I shall still be blogging though over the weekend. If enough bloggers update I might have a another LA Catholic blog update on Sat or Sun. This update is a light one today as can be expected.

Catholic Tube has vids for us. He is finishing up the last words of Archbishop Fulton Sheen so let me list all those vids he has linked. GO see His Last Words , and His Last Words - Part 2 . Also see Fr. Morris on JPII Assasination Attempt

Alive and Young has Baby Laughing . . . In Slow Motion

Our new addition to the list Baby Cate has Mutual Admiration

The Brown Pelican Society has a ton of links as usual. Check them all out

Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message has a short meditation on a Great Saint and on the 4th at Feast of Saint Thomas the Apostle (3 July 2008)

From The Recamier has different sort of working hours so occasion it gets two posts at before I can catch her. She has Daily Update: July 1, 2008 ( I don't know how I missed this one yesterday) which starts out on Blessed Junipera Serra, Priest (died 1784). Also see Daily Update: July 2, 2008 though not having a Saint today is informative as ever.

Full Circle has a great follow up to Priest of the Titantic Post GO see The conversion of Fr. Thomas Byles to Anglicanism then Catholicism . I am going to spend time looking at his entry here The slippery slope - dispensing of religious freedom in favor of tolerance .

Finally we have Thoughts & Ruminations of Father Ryan . Go see Reform in the New Mass: Vernacular celebrations with Latin Consecration? (Good Grief This is HUGE!!) Father also has Calling all Catholic Bloggers to Re-Post this! According to Father "Here is the single clearest and simplest explanation of the relationship of Clergy to Laity that I have seen. It’s excellent!" I shall be reposting it too. Father will be giving this Wonderful blessing this weekend he tells us at Blessing of Girls for the Feast of St. Maria Goretti. He has a great quote here on the interaction of Religon and Culture.

He has thoughts and link on the perhaps the emascualtion of the Liturgy and a quote from Pope Benedict on the Blood of martyrs

Happy Fourth of July Bayou Catholic Bloggers Be safe !!!
