Vocal Mixed Reaction To New Ambassador to the Holy See(McBrien also Pipes In)

The Boston Globe had a very good article on the reaction to the nomination of Mary Ann Glendon to become the next US ambassador to the Vatican. He can be viewed here at Views mixed on Bush pick for envoy to Vatican.

Let me quote this blurb that from controversial "Theologian" Rev. Richard P. McBrien.
"She has also been an outspoken critic of feminism, tending to write it off as a relic of the 1970s," said the Rev. Richard P. McBrien, a University of Notre Dame theologian, "all of which endears her to conservative Catholics and makes her an ideal choice for President Bush."

What? I am not exactly sure what this means. Here is woman at the height of her profession. She is being appointed Ambassador to the Holy See by a man that has women as his most intimate advisers. I have no clue what MC Brien is talking about here

I am surprised that McBrien wasn't considerably more harsh in his comments given his unorthodox (to the Church), left-wing opinions.

As an ND graduate, I am embaressed that he is still there.

You continue to have one of the best blogs around. Keep it up.

Hi, my political blog continues with at least five columns per week -- focusing this week on the campaign of Lt. Col. William Russell against the odious John Murtha. http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com.

I've also started a new blog that emphasizes "living better on less (money)." It's about spending less and enjoying it more -- basically, how to free oneself from the rat race. I hope you and your readers will visit this site at: http://livebetteronless.blogspot.com. It also answers one of the world's most pressing question: "Where in the heck is Ambridge, PA."
