Ruben Navarrette Explodes Political Myths of The Immigration Reform Fight

All in grand fashion in the Dallas Morning News.

I have been saying this for the last two years!! Yet people wish to view this in a very simplistic fashion.

As I have said based on past experience in my observations of how democrats handled themselves on this issue the last four years, this will be smoke and mirrors.

Just enough to appease the Latino base, whose leadership will go along in the deception, because there will be no consequences. As we saw in the election of Obama in 2008.

The final nail in this coffin will be the likely retirement of Justice Stevens this year. You can bet the White House, that again seems not too excited about the whole immigration reform issue , will see the placement on the Court of a Liberal a high priority. It will be a huge fight (which they win in the end) but it will suck the air out of the room.

You will notice that the immigration reform issue will get more and more downplayed and then WE ARE OUT OF TIME. The GOP gets major seats in both chambers and we can go back to the talking point of how it is just the mean ole GOP that halts immigration reform. Thus the issue will be effectively dead for at least another two years.

Many immigration reform supporters will sadly fall for this and thus we shall see this political groundhog day repeat itself once again.
