Will All SEC fans Be Rooting For Alabama Tonight?

Pro-Ecclesia explores this topic at The NASCARification of College Football

I am a genuine lets root for the SEC!!!! at Bowl time kinda of guy. I admit it. Still it is more complex

However, the mentality remains most prevalent among fans of the SEC. Tonight, we will see Auburn fans rooting for hated archrival Alabama to win a "National Championship". WTF? And LSU fans who rightly detest Nick Saban will also be pulling for him to win another crystal trophy, only this time for the Crimson Tide instead of the Bayou Tigers. And those same fans, I will almost be willing to guarantee, were rooting for the Big 10 to go 0-7 or 1-6 or 2-5 in their bowl games so they could have another year of trashing the conference as "inferior".

Let me say I am pretty confident there will be a good many Auburn and LSU fans rooting for Texas tonight. We saw for instance at the last Sugar Bowl LSU fans rooting for UTAH!! So it depends who is playing. As to some schools even the SEC brotherhood can't cover the scab.

For instance I can see most SEC schools rooting for Mississippi State but I bet my last dollar Ole Miss fans would not be,

But on the whole most SEC fans will be rooting for Bama though some schools are allowed dispensations. Thus LSU fans that have no FLORIDA hate do not receive a dispensation and are expected to tow the line when Florida is playing. Ole Miss fans got a dispensation when LSU played. The rest are expected to unite.

However Pro-Eccesia is right. Many LSU fans will root for the dreaded Bama tonight and not take advantage of the dispensation.

We know a good thing when we see it. A good conference means great recruits (though I suspect it will mean no SEC team will ever be a Football dynasty because of increasing parity) and oh yeah that lovely extra 15 million dollars check each school gets off the top for our TV contract. Plus WE ALL SPLIT THE MONEY equally from the bowl games.

Therefore no begging to State Legislatures to fund the sports program. This not only funds football but everything else!!! We know a good thing when we see it. That is why hated rivals band together at this time.

GEAUX SEC
