Scott Brown Believes in Raping Women and Seven Day Creationism (Updated)

Goodness I thought we had seen it all today. Now this. Next we will learn that Brown is a OLE MISS fan . From the CORNER

What's That? [Jonah Goldberg]
Unless Bob Kerrey's working from some information I'm unaware of, this is a pretty slimy thing for him to do. From the
New York Times:

The risks to the White House are both immediate and long-term. A victory by Mr. Brown would mean losing the 60th vote Democrats need to stave off a filibuster in the Senate.“If he’s running against 60 votes and wins, that is not good,” said Bob Kerrey, a former Democratic senator from Nebraska. “It says that in Massachusetts, they are willing to elect a guy who doesn’t believe in evolution just to keep the Democrats from having 60 votes.”

Really, Scott Brown doesn't believe in evolution? I checked Nexis-Lexis and did some quick Googling. Anyone know what he's talking about? Maybe the Times could have clarified the charge?

An Update from the Corner

The Times Edits Itself [Jonah Goldberg]
So
yesterday, I called attention to a fairly sleazey line from Bob Kerrey in which he tried to suggest that Brown doesn't believe in evolution. The Times ran the insinuation without skepticism or explanation. And then it cut the reference to evolution. It had read:
“If he’s running against 60 votes and wins, that is not good,” said Bob Kerrey, a former Democratic senator from Nebraska. “It says that in
Massachusetts, they are willing to elect a guy who doesn’t believe in evolution just to keep the Democrats from having 60 votes.”
Now it says:

“If he’s running against 60 votes and wins, that is not good,” said Bob Kerrey, a former Democratic senator from Nebraska.

It'd be nice to know why the change. Did the Times find out this wasn't true? Did it pull the line for Kerrey's sake?

Also, the edit changes the meaning of Kerrey's comments. In the original version, Kerrey was insinuating that Brown's some sort of neanderthal and losing the 60-seat Democratic majority to a neanderthal would be really bad. Now, he's saying it would be bad simply to lose it.

Honestly,I knew this was going to get dirty, especially after seeing what the Dems are capable after the last election. However, it's gone beyond dirty and hit insanity. I have no regrets for leaving the Democratic party and becoming an Independent.
