It does take long for any well read Catholic to come across the name of Romano Guardini . He was a Italian-German philosopher and theologian is referred to as "a father of the 20th-century Church." I came across him back in the 90's because he was always poping up in writings by the then Cardinal Ratzinger or in writings about Cardianal Benedict.
Chiesa has a nice overview of this relationship at Benedict XVI Has a Father, Romano Guardini
