Pope Benedict's New ENCYCLICAL To Be Released Before the End of the Year

I saw this at the Ratzinger Forum.

ABOUT THAT THIRD ENCYCLICAL

Cardinal Raffaele Martino, president of the Pontifical Commission on Justice and Peace, told journalist Lucio Brunelli in an interview on RAI's TG-2 tonight that he is confident Pope Benedict XVI's third encyclical, Caritas in Veritate, will be released before the year is over. (Martino's dicastery would be the Vatican organism most concerned with the subject matter of the encyclical, which will tackle globalization, its ills and challenges.]

It was widely expected to be released this summer, and the Pope's American publishers, Ignatius Press, had advertised the English translation to be out by September 30. They have since omitted a publication date.

My guess is that Pope Benedict has put off publication of this document till after the United States elections. It might be a tad misued by some in sound bites. There were reports that Benedict had this in mind earlier this year because of the Italian elections
