Why Do People Want to fire the GOP National Chairman

This seems like a lot of Inside GOP baseball to me by people with hurt feelings.

The CORNER has something on this today. See How Steele Survives I even note a Louisiana Republican has a DUMP STEELE WEB SITE.

A Washington Post Opinion piece while not trying to be too flattering of Steele at the very end admits something.

No matter how much Steele's opponents in the GOP establishment may fume, the party is unlikely to dump him anytime soon. The "optics" of dismissing the first African American chairman so quickly would be awful. And while the long knives may be out for him in Washington, he is much more popular among Republican officials outside the Beltway.

And why not? The party, moribund when Steele took over, has had an excellent fundraising cycle, taking in $80 million. He cleaned house at RNC headquarters, shaking up the complacent staff. He pays attention to long-neglected state party leaders. Disgruntled GOP insiders are probably stuck with him.
I sympathize. A good figurehead is so hard to find
.

Hmm sounds like it was something needed!! I bet what is behind this is a lot of feathers got ruffled.

It seems the latest problem is he wrote a book and is promoting it. AHHH lets go down memory lane here.

It seems the GOP has had a good year so far!! Is that all Steele's doin?. Of course not but he has played a role and so has the National Party. I heard a lot of people saying that the National GOP was doing nothing to help BROWN in Massachusetts. Hmm not so. See Scott Brown Says He's Getting What He Needs From National Republicans

Though people like to bad mouth the National party they do a stuff of behind the scenes that you never see.

Another response I hear is Steele is too liberal. Well I have yet to see how is out to hurt "conservative" GOP folks. If there is some plan to plunge the knife in our back I have not seen it.

Further from what I hear the money is looking good, and recruitment for 2010 races look stellar.

I am trying to imagine why having nasty FRONT PAGE FOR WEEKS coverage of some nasty internal fight to distract the GOP when are starting to get on message is a good idea. Why should we be having this uproar in a critical election year seems silly.

Why don't we wait and see how the GOP does in the 2010 races. November is not too far off. That is a far better indication of performance than anything we have now. Which is perhaps what some people fear
