North Louisiana Catholic Church Receives High Vatican Honor

There is a News VID at the link By the way the Priest mentioned is involved in the blog and Louisiana Catholic Podcast The Catholic Underground

There is a lot of early American Catholic History centered around this Church and area mentioned

The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches has been designated a "Minor Basilica" by the Vatican. In ancient terms, "basilica" means "attached to the king" or pope. The church, which was established in 1728, was chosen for it's historical significance.
"We get the designation because we're a "Mother Church." We're connected to the larger, broader picture of what it means to be Catholic in the United States," Father Ryan Humphries said.
The Immaculate Conception Church is the second congregation in Louisiana to receive the honor. The first is St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans
