Freedom Restored- Does Mccain Regret McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Law

What a great week. It is being capped off by the court basically gutting a horrible piece of legislation. See Supreme Court Vindicates Political Speech, Pulverizes McCain-Feingold

I respect Senator John McCain a lot. He is a man of his convictions. On this though I was in huge disagreement. Now his efforts are for naught.

What if McCain had never been behind this? Would history be different?

In my view in SOME conservative circles McCain get unfairly bashed. HE IS A RINO HE IS NOT A TRUE CONSERVATIVE.

But those charges on the whole never make any sense to me .

The problem for McCain was this piece of legislation. Many conservative groups and other parts of the conservative advocate structure that makes their living out of this advocacy were appalled. McCain became enemy number one. He must be punished. Thus ever since then McCain could do nothing right in their eyes( or that was memo pushed) and this theme was pushed with relentless force. Thus the PR problem McCain had. Was it and is it fair? No.

One wonders if McCain would have a easier time and if indeed history might have been changed in he never backed this legislation.

More on this opinion later.

He still favored ESCR, and that is the biggest knock against him in my mind. McCain-Feingold was also an abominable piece of legislation, but probably not enough, standing alone, to have drawn enough of my ire to make him persona non grata. After all, Bush signed it into law.

YEah actually I was more mad at Bush because BUSH ran against it and one reason why he defeated McCain in SC
