Thank goodness. It is indeed happening and the latest rumors from Rome have some meat attached to them. Father Z has the latest at NCReg: formal statement coming on proposals by the CDWDS plenary (I know that sound like a boring title but the article is clear and gets to the point).
I know many of us were hoping that Pope Benedict would fly around the world in Papal One and lay a serious six pack of theological and liturgical whoop ass in areas that have been suffering. But that is not how the Church operates and Benedict must move in measured steps. Thee seem slow and for many of us that note his age and every passing birthday painfully slow but it is happening.
I am sure there will be gnashing of teeth in certain quarters on this but guess what!! I think the average Catholic would like it. I mean are Catholics going to raise huge objections to making communion on the tongue the norm again? I think most Catholics would love to go back to kneeling for Communion at some sort of altar rail. I mean even the most liberal Anglicans do that!! I am not sure what are all in this 30 proposal that are being considered but I am hopeful.
