Jimmy Carter Now Enters the Debate- Look At Me!!!

Ann Althouse gives her thoughts on the former President's comments. I agree with her that all this sounds like some insulting racist paternalism.

On the bright side President Carter did not do as he usually does. That is be the ultimate narcissist. On many occasion Jimmy can't seem to resist talking about HIS Carter Center His Nobel Peace Prize etc etc etc.

Also see 'Georgia Pharisee' from National Review.

Update-

Health Reform Bill Supporter Kaus at @kausfiles: Sex, Racism, and Jimmy Carter says in part

Jimmy Carter cites racism as anti-Obama factor. Instant reaction: Kiss of Death. Gift to the GOPs. Remember the Carter era of smug moralizing? Anyone want to go back to that? ... P.S.: A good example of how, if the MSM wants to tilt against the Republicans, it's often too wedded to its own conventions--e.g., the desire to 'make news' with an ex-Pres.--to be effective. ... No sophisticated campaign propagandist would say, "OK, let's throw Jimmy Carter at them. They'll be reeling!" ....6:42 P.M.

Ugh..Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy!

When I heard his remarks today I wanted to scream. All week I've been hearing cries of "racist!" coming from "Progressive" Democrat bloggers. I have never in my life been called a racist by anyone, and for good reason, I'm not a racist. However, in the last year, I have been directly called a racist 8 times. Only because I made a comment about a policy issue in regard to Obama. These insults came from people that I thought I knew...people who used to come to my blog!

For a man who said that he would strip away partisanship and division, he sure is doing a lousy job. I have to wonder why he doesn't make one of his famous barn burner speeches in order to quell these ridiculous charges of racism at every turn. But then I come to my senses...this is exactly what he wants. He wants to hide behind this big wall that is protecting him. He will never be questioned on policy, because no one would dare or they will be branded a racist.

Martin Luther King, Jr. must be rolling in his grave.
