Blame Catholics Not Evangelicals For Romney Losing in 08

That is blame them if one must for what ever reason find some religious boogyman for Romeny's loss. I hate to bring up this topic again but it appears that that Conservatives are under the Obama regime they are revisiting the topic more and more. If only Romney had won and those prejudiced Evangelicals had not voted against Romney

The problem is if one looks at the exit polls as a whole that was not Romney's problem.

I guess this post and thread on the LSU board has made me revisit this topic today. SeeHow the hell did we not end up with Romney ( I am Bayourant).

If Romney supporters want their guy to run again then seeing what the real problem is paramount. That is they must get out of the Cocoon.

Here are a few of my comments and Links (corrected for misspellings)

We partly did not get Romney because of his slash and burn politics. You can go negative but only for so long. Plus many people were not buying all the conversions he had.....

no, it was the fundies who couldn't vote for a Mormon over a Baptist preacher...

No that is not the case. This alternative history will not stand. So Mitt (who was well know in NH because Southern NH is the Boston Market) lost to McCain because of NEW HAMSPHIRE FUNDAMENTALISTS? Who knew there were so many. Perhaps the fact that New Hampshire Folks knew Mitt real well but did not vote for him in large numbers should have us examine some assumptions How do we explain much of New England and McCain strength against Romney. Heck before Super Tuesday in New York it was Rudy and McCain. How do we explain California and the fact that Romney lost the most conservative counties?..............

Finally let us look at California where the nail was put in the Romney movement. It also had the effect of really putting a end to Huckabee because no one expected McCain to do so well out there (Recall in Cali the delegates are divided up) LINK

Here McCain and Romney got equal numbers of born Agains with Hucakbee coming in last Their overall Protestant Vote was basically a tie What the difference was again and we see this in other States was the CATHOLIC vote where again McCain gets a huge percentage Yet the story of Mitt's loss is those horrible Evangelicals? The exit polls overall show this to be false UPPDATE- PLEASE NOTE AMONG WHITE EVANGELICALS ROMNEY WON THAT VOTE in California.

Now I am not saying that the Mormon issue was totally nonexistant but it appears not to have been the main problem.
