Archbishop Hughes Celebrates Red Mass In Diocese of Shreveport (Pics)

The Red Mass if course is the Mass given for the legal community and law enforcement. It is a very ancient Mass.

In the Diocese of Shreveport we have two of them. In the western part of the Diocese of Shreveport we have one in Shreveport at the historic Holy Trinity Church.

In the eastern part of the Diocese we have one at the historic St Matthew in Monroe Louisiana.

It is always a beautiful event and is a hit among the non Catholics even.

This year we were honored to have Archbishop Hughes of New Orleans came up. Some beautiful pics are here and another gallery here of the St Matthews Red Mass

I met with Archbishop Hughes back in August when my son entered Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, He is a wonderful, holy man. What a gorgeous church that is. I would love to visit it sometime.

St Matthews is a very nice Church. It was thankfully one of those Churches that survived the Vatrican II renovations. It is one those typical nice SOuthern downtown River City Catholic Churches. Lots of history and such
