LSU Players So Excited They Can Die on the Practice Field

There is an interesting article on two Freshman from Bastrop that are playing on the LSU team this year. See Former Rams move on to college careers

As to Superstud Reuben Randle
Bastrop coach Brad Bradshaw understands this more than most coaches after placing some of the best athletes in the state at some of the top college programs in recent years.
However, you can’t blame the coach for feeling somewhat relieved going into this season when looking back to a year ago.
The recruiting circus had already started with the top receiver in the nation Rueben Randle. College coaches and media outlets swarmed the Rams field house pretty much on a daily basis, even though most knew Randle was firm on not releasing his decision until National Signing Day.
“Last year got blown way out of proportion,” Bradshaw said. “I mean every little thing they do. I love Rueben Randle, but I don’t care what he had for breakfast. I don’t care that Rueben was in Wal-Mart.”
The distractions did not seem to affect Randle as much as his teammates. The receiver turned quarterback his senior season still put up eye gauging numbers and helped lead his team to the semi-finals of the Class 4A playoffs.
“It was a distraction for other people,” Bradshaw said. “Rueben did everything we asked him to do
.”

But then we have this wierd, interesting and well concerning thought on Josh Downs
A year before Randle’s commitment, Downs almost immediately said yes when LSU offered him a scholarship midway through his junior year in February 2007.
I worry about Josh,” Bradshaw said. “Josh is a kid that can actually die on the practice field. Josh doesn’t quit. He’s one of the few I’ve ever had like that — that would go beyond what safety is like. He gets so excited about being down there.
Josh didn’t practice the first week down there simply because of that. He’s so excited to at LSU, which is great, but his blood pressure got up so high they wouldn’t let him practice. Once he calms down and realizes it’s a business down there, I think he’ll be fine
.”

WHAT???? That is being pretty damn excited. I have never heard of anything like that. Hopefully he will calm down.

On a side note here are some pics from the practice this morning. Boy it looks hot.
