Denver Post Columnist- Is There A Baptist Sex Abuse Scandal?

See Our selective curiosity on sex scandals from the post. A blogger has comments .

I have commented on this a million times. However part of the problem I think can be traced to Live The Trinity excellent post I commented on yesterday. See his post No Baptist theology of ordination?. That is in some ways according to perhaps the theology that is around it is easy to go into these are just Lay people mode .

As I have noted in articles dealing with this the person that was a Minister of x or a Deacon in some Church becomes "a man" at Church X. Also as I have pointed out LAY folks don't seem to be thrilled with being held to the same standard as "ORDAINED CLERGY" in these matters .

Now this is not to say some Baptist and evangelical congregation don't handle this very well. The problem in reporting this story is there all kinds of Baptisst and for a media that does not do religion well they perhaps cannot grasp the dynamics to comment on it in a intelligent matter.

From what I have read over the years, the Baptist cover things up to where there are no scandals. It makes a heck of a lot of sense. I gather the abuse and the cover-up is very widely spread.
