Why Do We continue to Promote Myths About the Great and Good American People

Politcial Rant by Opinionated Catholic

Just was listening to the radio and heard for the millionth time that the American public is not inspired by the GOP lineup. I wish we can be honest. Lets face it if we ask the great and good American people who was even running most could not give us more than 2 names. The majority of people have no idea who this people are and what they stand for. Why? Because they don't all want to be engaged these early. I don't blame them it is only August.

This is why I hate when people make policy off opinion polls. I don't care if its immigration, the WOT, Iraq, the Economy etc. Most Americans don't tune into that stuff unless they have too. As to politics they don't start tuning in till close to election time. Why do we act like this alternative reality really exist?

I think this is the best post you have ever done. I would love for you to expand on it.

Thanks I think I will. It seems a subject that no one likes to bring up because it is considered rude or arrogant. But the fact is that Americans are lucky to name their two Senators and Us Represenative. Two years after a election how many know who their state rep is?

I guess I just see all the time. Going door to door campaigning for people have showed me that people are really clueless. That is not being arrogant but they just have other interest and they view politics as a distraction and nusiance. Just think about 2004. Every month starting in January we had indication that the Economy was recovering rapidily. Yet it was not till August that the American people started to realize that. Despite the fact the all the economic data that was publicized showed things were going good. YEt until around the time of the convention ,AMericans in polls said the Economy was getting worse.

I think it is easy for us political folks to get decieved. If you look at the ratings of cable news shows it isnt that high really. How many people are actually listening to talk radio. Most can't because they are working. How many people are actually following what Red State and Daily Kos say? It is all the same folks. NOt to say these groups don't have a impact but it is exagerated on what the public think.

That is one reason why the whole Fred Thompson thing annoyed me. There seemed to be a concerted effort by some cable news and talk radio, and influential blogs to crown him as the nominee before we actually had any camapigning. Why? I find that pretty offesive especially since no one is paying attention yet. And I think they know that.
