From The Recamier has the Catholic fact for the day. In the August 7th post we hear important things about the two Saints we honored and other great trivia.
At Dei Gratia we have another post on code of Canon Law. I am enjoying him doing this. I am still trying to find that blogger that did a exceelnt piece on this. As someone that studied and practiced Louisiana law, which is Codal and Civil, I also enjoy the technical and other similarities between the two.
The Lake Charles Latin Mass Society brings us news that the Bishop of Lake Charles is rumored to be making a statement Friday on the latest CDF document as well as one ont he "Latin Mass". I will follow this and if it happens I will post it.
Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony look around something is lost that must be found!!!! proclaims Blessed In Nola. Let me tell that really works.
Feast of Pope Saint Sixtus II is the post at Fr. Victor Brown’s Catholic Daily Message He does not address the Saint Feast day but really has some insihtful things to say about the readings that were at Mass
We end this round up by looking at some bloggers in the Dioces of Baton Rouge
For The Greater Glory blog has a post on Gulliani and his Catholicism. He makes some good points. The media I expect will play this angle a lot too. The media though is missing his real problem. That is his huge NRA problem. THe NRA is going to pull out all the stops to make sure a Republican nominee is not pro gun control. That is going to hurt him in the South areas of the Midwest and other areas where Gun rights is huge. My dad likes Guillani(he is not Catholic) but will not for him in the primaries on that issue. How Rudy deals with that is beyond me. Romney suffers a little bit from that same problem too even though he is trying to spin his way out of it.
Astonished, Yet at Home! that offfically launches August 9th has several good post. First here is a post asking for prayers for an intention. He interacts with my comments on the Emergent Church and thinks perhaps I was being a tad hard on Shea's views. I might have been. Looking at my post yesterday I think I was a tad snippy somewhat. That is partially because of some post about Republican Catholics I saw on another blog and comments that a LSU grad that just happens to be a major political and religious blogger said on another matter Still I think Shea was to sweeping in his generalization. However I think Tobis makes some good points.
Today he has a great post on St Dominic.
I really recommend that you go to Full Circle Blog and check out the latest in his series of post on how he and wife found the Catholic Church. The latest post is up called Household of Faith . I find his interaction with what G. K. Chesterton said as to the process of Catholic Conversion very apt because I can recognize that happened to me too. Anyway check it out
I have a link in the Diocese of Baton ouge Section called My Myspace Page for Brent. I am on a computer at this moment that is having a hard time opening my space pages. So I don't know if he has updated. Well he is a seminarian for the Diocese of Baton Rouge and it is getting that time for him to go to school. GO by and say hi.
The Brown Pelican Society as usual got up at like 4 am and start looking for things that we Catholics should be aware of. He usually has so many post that I say just check it out. That is because there is just so many. His site as you can tell delves a little into the political conservative side. That is fine by me. But today I will give a list of things he has posted on just so you can sample it. This isone reason why I say CHECK IT ALL OUT because I spend 10 minutes posting all his links.
. Those post from just today are as follows: Reclaiming our Catholic Mission.- This is a link to the great words of Archbishop Denver that he gave a talks in Australia last month. Check it out. I was not aware of these talks and I might delve into them more. They sound that good A post on a nice homily called Don't Shoot from the Hip. He hits on another Homosexual controversy in San Diego -this one involving fire fighters. He has a link to the controversy over Hindu prayer that was said in congress and the fact we now have a muslim member of Congress. Let me say I am not endorsing the tone or all that the very Controversal Congressman is saying there by the way in that link. I am just posting it. THis piece is very disturbing about Female Feticide in India. Why in the hell are not seeing this on the News. That is horrible. It is a outrage. What does Bobby Jindal think of this. I don't expect Bobby to be a font of all things India but that community is looking up to him. When I see Bobby tommorow in Arcadia as a part of his tour I might ask him. He has this disburbing Planned parenthood news. Here is a post on how US News and World report gave a sanitized view the racist sanger. He post a news item on which Congress folk stood up for life in a important piece of pro life legislation. The Pelican post here on how the Congress is again trying to impose the Nanny State. A post to a news piece here on the chances of a Social liberal getting the GOP nod. He gives us news that the US Bishops are promoting a web site for marriage. HE post on a link on todays Gospel and meditation. Here is the marriage tip by the US Bishops for the day. Finally here is a piece on St Dominics.
