This is amazing. Communion and Liberation is a major important Catholic movement in the world. Pope Benedict has special regard for this group and in fact was very much involved in it. They also were the prime lay organization that got the turnout for the massive protest against proposed changes to laws in Italy affecting the family this year.
Whispers in the Loggia has a report on their annual Conference that is being held in Italy this year.
It is a good read. He also tells us that
Held every August in the Adriatic resort town of Rimini, Comunione e Liberazione's weeklong "Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples" has long been a magnet for Italy's ecclesiastical, cultural, political and academic classes. In recent years, however -- and particularly since the election of one of its red-clad cheerleaders to the chair of Peter -- the conference's net has gotten even wider. Case in point: tucked into the lengthy days of concerts, caffè meetings, presentations and round-table discussions is a panel on American jurisprudence headlined by none other than Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Alito..
Big prediction here. If we have a President Hillary Clinton, I highly doubt her nominees will be the type to speak at an event like this. I would like the Catholic Press in America to report on this. However, likely that will not happen.
Go through this very in depth guide to the talks and panels they will have at this event.
We see on the 21st that
THE JUSTICE OF THIS WORLD: LAW IN AMERICATime: 11:15
Participants: Samuel A. Alito Jr.,Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States; Paolo Carozza, Professor of Law-Notre Dame University. Speech of welcome by Giovanni Castellaneta, Italian Ambassador to Washington. Introduced by Andrea Simoncini, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Macerata. (Salone D5)
I shall be following this an do my best to find out more what he says.
Update-
That schedule is incredible. I would love to have a event like this in the USA. I would love to go to this next year. It looks like one the major Catholic conferences to go to in the World
