The Jewish Roots of Harry Potter and Other Patristics/Church Fathers Lagniappe

I have never read a Harry Potter book or saw one of the movies. I really don't know why. I am a huge Lord of the Rings Fans so one would think I would have been eating it up. Maybe soon I will. However I know he is all the craze.

The great Patristics site The Way of the The Fathers has a link to someone that talks about the Jewish roots of what we see in the books.

Also of note on his site is what early Church Father, St. Ephrem of Syria (fourth century), had to say about Peter, the Keys, and the connection between Isaiah 22 and Jesus’ bestowal of the keys in Matthew 16:18.

He always has a lot of great stuff that one wishes one would hear occasionally in Homilies at Mass. Check out his whole site.

His link section is also great. Here are some links that you might want to check out on occasion. Of course I recommend all of them but these are Patristic ones that catch my eye ogten

Bread and circuses
Adventures in the later Roman empire-

The God Fearin' Forum
He touches on a lot of subject but he really touches on Patrisitcs a good bit. For example look at these recent posts
Montanism, Pentecostals, and Speaking in Tounges-
The Power of the Early Popes

Robert Pearse-
Robert Pearse I believe is some version of Methodist in the UK. He delves into Patristics a good bit. Especially the very interesting Tertuallian. His Tertuallian Project as well as as his main site is a good place to check in occasionally.

Hyperekperissou- Is a great site and he also does a Patristic Blog Carnival each month. In fact the new one should out soon. This was Junes to use as a example.
