RINUNCE E NOMINE

  • NOMINA DELL’ARCIVESCOVO METROPOLITA DI SAN ANTONIO (U.S.A.)

Il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha nominato Arcivescovo Metropolita di San Antonio (U.S.A.) S.E. Mons. Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S., finora Vescovo titolare di Esco e Ausiliare di Chicago.

  • Catholica Omnia has a nice piece on him here at Garcia-Siller to San Antonio. It seems he comes from a family of vocations.

I would be following Abe Levy Religion reporter for the San Antonio Express-News today. He has a initial blog post up on this already. See Vatican names Mexican-born auxiliary bishop as new archbishop of San Antonio

The Archdiocese of San Antonio Newspaper through the twitter doodad has announced a Press Conference at 10 am today

Rocco who broke the story, as usual , posts:
Gustavo installation in San Antonio set for 23 November Homily of Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller in Medjugorje

A blog associated with the very successful Anglican Use Parish in the Archdiocese has a copy of the official news release of the Archdiocese(It has quotes from the Press Conference that will be given in a few hours) See The Most Rev. Gustavo Garcia-Siller

Rocco has a wrap up post for the day which also includes the wonderful soon t be Archbishops remarks. See "Yes, Here I Am!": Archbishop Gustavo Spurs On.

Bishop Garcia-Siller is especially a bishop of great love. He has a love for the Eucharist and during one Eucharistic procession he organized through the streets of a poor neighborhood in Chicago, when other priests would replace him to adore the Blessed Eucharist, he would take note of people standing outside their homes or some construction workers who stopped work to look at the procession and stop by and talk to them, handing out Rosaries to every person, Catholic or non-Catholic. Even the Missionaries of Charity (of Blessed Mother Teresa) felt embarassed how the good bishop was doing this all by himself and joined in. He is a humble leader who will be a good Archbishop.
