The Latin Mass Is Responsible For All Social ills In the World

Damian Thompson over at the UK Telegraph has linked the latest anti Pope Benedict rant from the Tablet's Rome Reporter. See And Bobbie wept... It links a piece he did that is over at the America magazine blog.

What is it about the Latin Mass that gives some people such a case of paranoia.

There is so much incorrect in the article. One gets the sense that no has read a darn thing Pope Benedict has written over his vast life. His output has caused whole forest to be decimated no doubt :)

I was struck by this comment over at America

Ok, now I'm panicking. Mr. Mickens, and Mr. Schewe's comments, succinctly pull together opinions I've seen on the Internet and in print, and situations I've experienced. I recently attended a Latin Mass at a mid-town Manhattan church out of curiousity, and realized in the middle that the movement for this worship form isn't about the language, or the 'smells and bells' -- it's about fear: of the modern world, ideas that are 'different,' women, human sexuality, other religions (esp. Judaism), having to do critical thinking to make moral choices, etc......... ...............

Now I guess it is a fact that most people think they are living in the most part of world history because well they are in it. That everything before them is some quaint but often bad and sad time before folks like them were alive. Even to the devout we all sort of think that we are the center of the Universe. The Catholic Church as the Orthodox does a good job fighting this human inclination in what Chesterton called "The Democracy of the Dead".

So we learn from this author and some people in the America com box thatPope Benedict (who was a important part of the Second Vatican Council and defends it non stop) wants to send us back to 1870 or something.

The Latin Mass is the vehicle because any serious student of history knows the modern world and all progress suddenly arrived on the scene in the 1960's!!!!

Now the arrogance in this viewpoint is breathtaking. The elimination of slavery occurred while the Latin Mass was said. Most of the work that got us to the moon occurred by many people that attended the Latin Mass. Those 25 craters on the moon are named after Jesuits that said the Latin Mass The huge advancement of women in education to female suffrage all occurred while the Latin Mass was being said.

The great American experience which had Catholics in it since the beginning and who were a big part of it success all for the most part went to the Latin Mass.

But you know there was no progress at until Vatican II and we all had the privilege of seeing women in leotards doing aerobics up the aisle of the Church(See Damon's Vid)

The fact that the Bishops of Vatican II were actually saying the Latin Mass sort of escapes everyone.

However we now know that this all about people that want to avoid progress, fear change , and avoid having to do critical thinking to make moral choices, etc.
