Pope Stumbles at Pentecost Mass- Vatican Reacts Quickly

I am a tad late getting the posts up from yesterday's Papal Pentecost Events. Yesterday was sort of packed for me. Anyway the Pope had a tad of a fall and nothing serious. However the Vatican reacted quickly so to head off silly Health rumors. Papal Pentecost Angelus and Homily coming up in some later posts(with Pics).
VATICAN CITY, May 11 (AP) - An unidentified prelate, [Mons. Guido Marini, of course] in background, reaches for Pope Benedict XVI as he stumbles on a step at the central altar of St. Peter's Basilica during a public ceremony, Sunday, May 11, 2008. Aides quickly helped Benedict stand up after the Pontiff grabbed on to the side of the papal throne for support as he landed on his knees during the Pentecost Sunday Mass. Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi said the Pope is 'quite well' after stumbling against a step leading to the seat. The Pontiff immediately went on with the 90-minute ceremony and later greeted pilgrims from his studio window overlooking St. Peter's Square.
PETRUS has a more detailed account of the incident, in the words of Fr. Lombardi. Here is a translation:
FATHER LOMBARDI EXPLAINS "It was a very small incident without any consequence at all," says Fr. Federico Lombardi, Vatican press director, of the reported 'stumble' by the Holy Father this morning. "The Holy Father, after incensing the altar at the start of the Mass, tripped on a step of the platform which supports his chair. He was on his knees for a few seconds, the ceremonial master immediately helped him to his feet, he took his seat, and then the Mass was begun normally." "It was a very brief incident that did not even cause any reaction among the thousands of faithful in the congregation. Anyone with common sense could see that it was nothing to worry about."
