While I voted for Mr. Huckabee last week, I do feel that I now should back Mr. McCain. To be sure, Mr. McCain is neither as Conservative nor as Pro - Catholic as Mr. Huckabee, I do feel that Mr. McCain is much better than either Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama.
Although, Mr. Brownback never made it off the ground, I think that between Mr. Huckabee and Mr. Brownback, Mr. Huckabee would have been both a more viable candidate and a better President than Mr. Brownback. However, in terms of policy, I would have to say that on balance, Mr. Brownback is at least as Conservative as Mr. Huckabee. While I am a little disappointed that the Brownback camp chose not to join forces with the Huckabee camp, I am a little disappointed that some Pro-Huckabee forces are accusing Mr. Brownback of not being a good Catholic. It is one thing to disagree with Mr. Brownback on a few issues, it is another to speak ill of him. It is time to for Catholic Conservative Republicans to stop fighting each other.
