Wow great news for the Louisiana Tech program and the Western Athletic Conference. Mississippi State has agreed to do a one and one with Louisiana Tech. Go here for the details. Mississippi State shall be playing at Louisiana Tech in Ruston next year.
This is a major contribution by Louisiana Tech in furtherance of the WAC plan. That plan is to actively discourage so many "money games" and for member schools to get "one and one" with schools from major BCS conferences. According the above link:
RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Athletic Director Jim Oakes announced Thursday that he has signed a contract for a two-game football series with Southeastern Conference foe Mississippi State starting next year.Tech will open the 2008 season Aug. 30 with Mississippi State at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston. According to the Tech record books, it will be the first time a current member of the SEC has played in Ruston since the Bulldogs hosted LSU in 1913.
Kudos to Louisiana Tech. If handled right this could become a long term engagement. It does give Miss State some benefits. Especially as to alumni and presence in the region.
