It is pretty apparent that Robert Mann~ On Politics, Louisiana and Life is not a fan of Governor Bobby Jindal. However I wanted to point out this piece he put out tonight Why Bobby Jindal won’t be Mitt Romney’s running mate, in one word: Exorcism.
I am not going to comment much on his rant about Jindal's education reform. I think its largely incorrect. To Jindal's opponents everything he does had dark political motive for the future. The fact that Jindal might actually believe in things that he proposes does not seem to enter their minds. Ironically as to subject matter of this post , under the radar in the past Democrats have said the same thing about his youthful religious conversion to Christianity. It was all part of his plan to get votes EVEN THOUGH HE WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL.
Now to the exorcism bit that Mr Mann thinks is so problematic. In a way Mr Mann shows why this might might be a weakness. He post out only part of the narrative of the story. The problem is to reprint or link the whole story will send in the "Hounds of Hell" from the Oxford Review people that demand you best delete all that and you need to pay x amounts of dollars for the article. The New Oxford policy was used by the State Democrat party as to a rather hamfisted anti Catholic ad campaign. More on that below.
A much better context of Jindal's college age youthful experence can be found here. I encourage people to read that which of course shows much more of the article. It shows not a Jindal looking for exorcisms , but someone that is saying OH BOY WHAT I HAVE WALKED INTO. I actually think the article did Jindal some good. Put some humanity on someone that can come off looking like a technocrat. In the end we find Jindal says the experence strenghten his belief in the prayers to the Saints and the BVM. That is controversial?
The Democrats in Louisiana attempted a rather sophisticated anti Catholic campaign against Bobby Jindal when he first ran for Governor. They had ads targeted in North Louisiana ( Protestant) and not South Louisiana. The only one that appears to have thought all that was a very bad idea is now New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. The results was it backfired. Protestants and Pentecostals were POED the Democrat party thought them as such ignorant rubes. I know it made be as a Catholic fit to be tied because the North Louisiana did not have a Bishop appointed yet to replace Bishop Friend. It actually was the cause of one blog post I have some slight regret on looking back.See Is The Louisiana Catholic Conference Worth More Than A Warm Bucket of Spit to Catholics In North Louisiana? Looking back I wish I had toned it down a tad , but it shows how angry people get when a person's faith is abused in the public square
One can imagine a similar result if Obama surrogates tried to play this card. Obama quite frankly has enough problems with value voters on issues of the HHS mandate, gay marriage, abortion, etc. The last thing he needs is to have even more Catholic plus charismatics and pentecostals even more motivated to get out to vote.
