A very nice article that highlights a promise that has been kept for 197 years in New Orleans. That is dealing with the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor and the Mass that is said each January 8th. New Orleans residents credit Our Lady of Prompt Succor for the miracle battle field victory over the British in 1815. See New Orleans History: Our Lady of Prompt Succor. She is in fact the Patroness of New Orleans and Louisiana.
As noted there is a major fundraising appeal for the Shrine that is happening as we now begin commemoration of the battle of 1812.
