I've been following the story for years. I don't think the "heat" event is anything new. The archaeology of the area has for years, pointed to something quite warm happening. To me, the question now is what. I'm rather leaning to tar pit explosions.

I do agree. And of course the caveat here is this AMAZING new finds rarely live up to the press. But this is intriguing
