Great list, but where is the Lord of the Dance? That has become the bane of my existence over the last month when our parish (unofficially) decided this would be our most repeated hymn. I remember singing that song in second grade and thinking "you know, I'm a little too old for this."
I also agree with his Amazing Grace caveat: "But only if 'and set me free' is substituted for 'a wretch like me'." Making hymns pc also drives me insane. We sang Holy, Holy, Holy a couple of weeks ago and they changed the lyric "Though the eyes of sinful man Thy glory may not see" to something gender neutral. How can that possibly be offensive to women? Even if the term "man" only meant "male" instead of "the human race", it still puts males in a bad light. Arrgh! (Christmas services than gender neutralize O Little Town of Bethlehem also drive me up the wall.
Oh Gosh Lord of the Dance is at the top of my most hated Hymns LOL
OH and the same on HOLY HOLY HOLY . THe Congregation actually loved and sang that song big time and was doing it from memory until we got to the two parts that some PC folks changed slightly. WHy change it? It's offensive to the writer of the song to boot

That's enough for this rant.
