Prop 8 Baptist Supporting Pastor Arrested For Child Molestation- World Goes Nuts

It seems this story is getting a TON of play in the papers, on the blogs, and the Internet boards. This is a typical overview. See Prop 8-supporting pastor bagged on multiple child molestation charges

Now I am not at all downplaying this incident. First IF this is true this is a very serious charge. The fact that his bail is 6 million dollars gives me an indication that perhaps there is some REAL substance to these charges. But I can't help but notice that the Prop 8 angle is the only thing being played. Ummm what about these day care centers he was at? What about the previous Churches he was at? One would think that would be the critical part of the story. In fact is there not a urgent need to know this now? Not perhaps as much that he happened to donate a grand total of $230 dollars to ProtectMarriage.com. Heck we don't even know if he preached as to Prop8 in this very small Church of his.

That being said besides the serious nature of the crime the Body of Christ is hurt great fully by any conduct of a minister such as this . Whether it be a Catholic Priest or Baptist Minister.

Still am I the only one that is thinking that this story does not have the bite many people want it to have as to the Prop 8 issue. It is almost people are attaching themselves to this tragedy to make one supposed point and not really worried about what else we need to know.

This does bring up the issue of the "donation" list that has been made public. Of course what might have been forgotten was how many law abiding people were basically harassed and sometimes pressured to leave their jobs.

Again unless he was a force of measurable significance in this debate I am not sure the $230 dollar donation is enough to make this the main point of his arrest.

I generally don't play this game on any political or moral issue. The fact is one could do quite a list of scoundrels that donate to party x , issue y, or cause z. That does not mean they pollute the rest of the people that support that cause or make the argument invalid. In fact I am not sure what gay marriage has to do with Child abuse. I have never made an argument that gay marriage would cause the abuse of little kids.
