Sigh. MCJ has AND NOW…IDIOTS.
About 25 college students and community members at St. John’s Abbey in Collegeville, Minn., were denied communion by Twin Cities Roman Catholic Archbishop John C. Nienstedt because they were displaying rainbow buttons and sashes in protest of the church’s stand on gay relationships...........
Read it all. It should be noted that in the comments the author of this post says he realizes that not all gay people approve of this but he gets worked up that there is not more condemnation of this stuff within the gay community. Thus his first line of his post is a little overboard.
This practice really back fires in my view. Why do gay groups do this? Further what business is it of secular gay civil rights group as to a Church's Liturgical practices?
The comments touch on something related that I think is interesting:

But when we have no other way of dialoguing with our church, no other way of telling him how we feel, how else to do it than in liturgy?
I thought the liturgy was a dialogue with God in which the only other participant was the church. Silly me. I should have known worship was about individuals standing separate from the church so they could argue with her.
Another c0mment agrees with this
Christopher – Agreed. And I there’s something to be said for the old model in which the priest and whole people faced the same direction, implying one body oriented toward God, instead of the “community gathering” of picnickers gathered ’round the facilitator or whatever we’re doing now.I think there is a lot to this. Perhaps what we see here is just the logical consequence of leaving that practice.
