Louisiana Hunters Clean Out Freezers To Help Feed The Needy

This is such a good idea. I am going to contact the Diocese of Shreveport tosee if they could get behind such a idea up here. Tip of the Hat to the Dead Pelican for this.

From KATC:
The Acadiana Outreach Center's annual Hunters for the Hungry food drive will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 10AM to 3PM. Local sportsmen and their families are encouraged to "clean out your freezers" and donate frozen processed game and fish from the 2009 season. Collection sites will be set up throughout Lafayette and other area communities. See complete list of sites below or visit www.acadianaoutreach.org .

All donations are tax deductible and will be used to feed the needy through the Acadiana Outreach Center's shelters and programs, just one of the many ways the Center fulfills its mission of assisting needy members of our community to become self-sufficient.

We are also in need of volunteers the day of the event to help greet the donors, unload donations, record them and distribute receipts. If you are interested in donating your time, please contact Jill Meaux at (337) 237-7618 x203 or via email at outreachpr@gmail.com .
Last year's drive was a huge success with collecting over 8,000 lbs. of food which provided 24,000 meals to the impoverished and homeless in the greater Lafayette community.

LAFAYETTE - Cajun Field•
BREAUX BRIDGE - Henderson Nina Fire Station•
CARENCRO - Carencro Fire Station•

EUNICE - Eunice Fire Department•
