James,
I've noticed a growing awareness of Distributism over the last few years, but lately there has been more of it.
From what I can understand, I think that Distributism is wonderful and the perfect economic model(or as close to perfect as we can get this side of Heaven).
Distributism encourages community, while retaining the necessary individual component.
The free market model doesn't discourage community, but it doesn't value it as much; and it seems to encourage individualism much more.
Christianity is an individualistic religion that depends on community; that a person knows he is an individual in a family.
Distributism seems to more fully meet the economics of Christianity.
***Well, to me anyway. Of course, I only know what I've read on the web about Distributism. Maybe I'm caught up in Utopian, pie-in-the-sky ideals.***
