Vandals Do Damage to Historic Stained- Glass Windows in Louisiana Catholic Church

The Catholic newspaper in New Orleans gives us a preview of a rather disgusting story that will be in their next edition.

Rock-throwing vandals shatter stained-glasswindows at St. John the Baptist Church, Edgard

Father Joel Cantones, pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard, examines the vandalism at his church that occurred between the weehours of Friday night, July 23, and Saturday morning, July 24.

A vandal or vandals threw large stones through three historic stained-glass windows in the church, which was built in 1920. The St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office has made no arrests, but they have investigated and are examining the stones for fingerprints.

“This is the first incident of vandalism that has happened here at the church since this church was built in 1920,” Father Cantones told the Clarion Herald. “It’s a shame. It’s a shock. The faithful were devastated.

A lot of them are really angry and can’t wait for that guy to be caught.” Damages are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars
