Episcopal Bishop and Church Hide Child Molestation - WHERE ARE THE HEADLINES!!!

Let me be clear I am not attacking the TEC here. I also understand the thing going on between the Church and the victims and why it was handled this way. But when the Catholic Church does this it is treated as a whole different manner.

These are the headlines I see on Google News.
Sex abuse by former Erie Episcopal bishop revealedPittsburgh Post Gazette
Another woman reports abuse by Episcopal bishop (Updated: 5:15 pm)
Church: Former Erie Episcopal bishop abused girl Wilkes Barre Times-Leader

All pretty much local. This Bishop appears to be a pretty big mover in shaker in the modern TEC. See his OBIT here. In fact he ordained the first TEC woman Priest/ Priestess

From an article about the accusations

Bishop Robert Rowley, Rowe's immediate predecessor, was aware of incidents of abuse as early as 1993 and reported them to the Office of the Presiding Bishop, Rowe said, adding that his investigation showed that Rowley met with victims and assisted in arranging counseling.

.............In early 1994, then-Presiding Bishop Edmund Browning asked Davis to resign from the House of Bishops in 1994 and undergo pastoral counseling and see a psychiatrist, Rowe said. Davis, then living in retirement in Sarasota, Florida, agreed to refrain from priestly or episcopal duties, meaning that he was effectively removed as a bishop of the church, Rowe said in his letter. Davis also helped pay for counseling for two of the victims, according to the diocesan news release.

The abuse and the subsequent actions were never made public. Rowley, who served as diocesan bishop from 1991 to August 2007, died Jan. 18, 2010, shortly before Rowe learned of the abuse..........

Just tired of the double standard.

Again I am not criticising the TEC here. In fact one can make a great argument that to keep victims private that this is the way it should be. YET when the Catholic Church does this it is treated as some damn sinister plot!!

  1. I think you're missing the entire point here. What the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania is saying is, this was not handled properly in the 1990s. Keeping it "quiet" is never appropriate. That's why it seems like a "sinister plot" when the Roman Catholics try to do it that way.

  2. I think it can be argued how these things should be handled if the victims want it handled very quietly for their privacy. Some not easy issues there

However I am curious to see if the media will give this the same attention

  3. This is disgusting. I do know there were several major cover-ups in the 90s. As a result, very strong measures are now in place, through the church. I know in the Rio Grande Diocese the training and background checks are excellent (having gone through them for years).

But - there was also another huge cover-up that has yet to be exposed. I know about it from someone involved. The boy molested was the son of a very highly placed member of the church.

There was one specific location where one of the priests was a predator. He was removed, defrocked. I don't know if he was prosecuted or not. One of the results of what happened are the new rules and regulations.

Who knows what the media is going to do. Our presiding bishop is so pro-gay that they will probably give her a politically correct pass. (She has been an abject disaster).

The only thing that stops any of this is the light of day - exposing them.
