Catholics Need to Pray for the Clergy, Religious, and Laity That Gets Their Hands Dirty With the Sexual Abuse Crisis

We really do.

There is a ton of rage. Lot of it. I understand it I just don't appreciate it when it is misdirected.

It appears that Pope Benedict, who took responsibility and actually changed things, is a prime example of misdirected rage. Ever wonder how it was at his age to read all those reports and have to deal with that filth? Ever wonder if he had periods of spiritual darkness because of it.

It seems that just to be associated it by trying to right the wrongs makes you UNCLEAN!!

I posted this story today out of the Diocese of Arlington. See Homecoming- Healing After Abuse. There are many Patricia Mudds who are director of the Office for Victim Assistance across this country. There are a ton of lay catholics, Bishops and Priests that work with them. You think that is easy? What about all those Catholics that work in Child safty programs that now literally millions of Catholics have gone through.

What about the combined clerical and lay boards that have to handle the accusations. That have to discern if in some cases that abuse claim sometimes decades old are valid. Think that is easy? Think of that darkness. Think of that responsibilty as people are demanding peoples heads roll even the ones that have been doing things right. Again to be associated it in some peoples eyes makes you unclean it appears.

It is often said that one is most likely to lose their faith when they work for the Church. You see all the warts. The warts of the Clerics and warts of the laity. Think about that in this situation.

YET YET YET from all the criticism of some my fellow Catholics and rage I have yet to see anyone think they should say thanks and pray for these people.

That is one reason I am kinda of angered that the amazing progress the Church has made on this issue is not acknowledged. I know it does not make of past sins. Nothing will. However not to acknowledge it is pretty much a slap in the face to a lot of people in the Church that deal with this every day. Lot of clerics and lots of lay people enter this world.

For those pontificating and demanding for sacrificial lambs of people that actually have done something let me ask. What have you done?

Perhaps a simple thank you to some of these folks might be a start.

I know I intend to try to do that myself the next two weeks. I too have taken these people for granted.
