The Black Democrat Mayor of Shreveport and Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell On Confederate History Month

Boy there has been a firestorm over Gov. Bob McDonnell and Confederate History Month!!!!

I saw this on CNN last night talked about.

However it is ironic that the first Black Mayor of Shreveport Louisiana holds the same view.

To others, like Anderson and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, they are symbols of heritage and pride in ancestors who fought a terrible war despite facing considerable odds."We're not about what some other people make us out to be," Anderson said."The people who wear white sheets have hijacked the Confederate battle flag and people want to make an association with (the Ku Klux) Klan."Cedric Glover knows exactly what we're about and I don't think he feels awkward. We have to get past certain things like the misrepresentation and skewed history over the last 50 years or so."Glover agreed, and wondered aloud why anyone would consider the situation to be delicate."Anyone who is looking to do something that seeks to help provide greater insight and understanding of exactly what occurred during that period of our country's history and put us in a position to avoid those conflicts today is someone worth engaging," he said. "But I find it ironic that this is a story that deserves expounding this year."

Now I have actually talked to some of these people. These people are to be precise Sons of the Confederate Veterans Lt.Gen Richard Taylor Camp 1308

Cedric has had a relationship with them I think from the times he was a State Legislator.

Now I largely hold Cedric's view. For instance to my knowledge the camp in Shreveport is not full wack jobs. Wack jobs being all these neo Confederates that in places hijack the Sons of Confederate Veterans to be some political movement. If this is allowed to continue the Sons of Confederate Veterans will sadly be no more.

That is where it gets messy. Especially when there is League of the South Influence in these camps. There is a big difference between the honoring the confederate dead and on the side what appears to be a political movement in some camps . I suppose the level of infiltration varies from State to State.

One reason I am in Cedric's camp and the Governor VA camp is to try to make these people look evil and to demonize them further helps the aims of lets say the extremists. That is one reason why I think the efforts of Edward Sebesta to be so COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. See his blog Anti-Neo-Confederate . Mr Sebesta does a good job of warning some troublesome aspects of the movement that is occurring here and there. However his crusade to strip memorials out of cities to take names of Confederate Generals off installation. is just folly!! Just like his latest crusade to try to prevent Obama from having the White House not lay a wreath at the Confederate Memorial.

All his effort does is to create an atmosphere where the extremist can take over. I don't think that is good at all. So I take Cedric's view more than the people at the Corner.
