What About Liberal Pro Life Democrats Do Something Useful For A Change

At least in the Catholic sphere of progressive / Liberal Catholics there is an amazing amount of "constructive" criticism one could say of the conservative anti abortion movement.

There is a lot of talk of how we sell our souls to the devil and are not really pro-life and we should be doing x , y, and z. Well everyone needs some constructive criticism and we get tons of it.

However time to turn that microsope around.

Over the last year under the Obama administration :

we have got a reversal on stem cell research policy,

the Mexico City Policy reversed,

the Sec of the State for the most influential Country on Earth going around the world declaring abortion is a fundamental right,

in our own Nations Capital city we see vouchers gone and the Archdiocese having to scale back benefits because they could not get an exemption to gay marriage laws,

we see programs under Bush to fight African poverty and disease might be scaled back

I could go on and on and on.

Pro -Ecclesia had a good link at Mark Stricherz: "You Can’t Hate Bart Stupak" Ecclesia's comment was "Maybe Rep. Stupak should run against President Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2012?"

Well maybe he should!! Of course perhaps Stupak does not want to run for President or in fact is not suited for it. However here is the big question. Why don't Progressive pro-lifers tun pro-life Democrats in the Democrat primary for President? Why don't they in fact get out there and promote someone to run against Obama in 2012?

I am not talking some fringe 3rd party guy. The person running would have to of course not be just running on the pro-life platform. He would have to be competent and appealing on other issues of course.

I have to think in Congress and out there among the Governors this creature must exist!

Criticism of the the Catholic pro-life GOP folks is fine and needed. However it gets a tad irksome after a while since we are the only ones doing the heavy lifting on this front.
